LOCO NOTES - note that the Festiniog Railway
Company reserves the right to substitute alternative motive power in the event
of failure, breakdown or other circumstances beyond its control
1.
Either ‘Prince’ or ‘Palmerston’ (among the
oldest working locomotives in the world, dating from 1863/4) will haul these
trains: if the weather is WET, coal-burning ‘Palmerston’ will be in charge of
the 07.55SatO/08.45SunO ex-Boston Lodge and 11.15SatO/12.30SunO ex-Porthmadog
departures, while oil-burning ‘Prince’ will take the Vintage Shuttles - or vice
versa if the weather is DRY!
2.
Regular service trains will feature one of
the railway’s celebrated Double Fairlie locomotives - either ‘David Lloyd
George’ or the ‘Earl of Merioneth’
3.
On Saturday only, ‘Prince’ and ‘Palmerston’
will double-head the 11.15 ‘Talking Train’ as far as Minffordd only, and the
14.00 Vintage Shuttle service
4.
The railway’s powerful ex-South African
Railways Funkey B-B diesel hydraulic locomotive ‘Vale of Ffestiniog’ will haul
this special evening train
5.
Sunday’s 12.00 departure from Porthmadog
(to Boston Lodge only, and return) will be top-and-tailed by ‘Prince’ and

concessions: these allow travel on both Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railways.
They are free of charge to members of the Ffestiniog & Welsh
Highland Railway Societies, but for use on the ‘home’ railway only: travel on
the ‘away’ railway will be charged at 25% of the standard fare. Weekend Rover Tickets are a pre-requisite of
any Winteractivity for non-members and
members: but they allow FRSoc/WHRSoc members to enjoy Winteractivities on both railways.

THERE’S ANYTHING ELSE YOU SPECIFICALLY WANT TO DO…
Ring the Winteractive Hotline on 07733 324 023, or
